  • How do solar panels work?

Solar panels are made up of several solar cells that are connected in series. Solar cells convert the solar energy to electricity through the photovoltaic effect. When the sunlight hits the solar cells surface a voltage is created between the front and back side of the cell. One cell gives a low voltage and is therefore connected in series to raise the voltage to an appropriate level of electricity production.

  • Can I walk on the roof with solar panels?

    Yes, you can.

  • What warranties do you provide?

We guarantee 90 % of the installed peak capacity after 10 years, 80 % of the installed peak capacity after 25 years and we offer a 5 years product warranty.

  • What color does the roof come in?

The solar panels only come in one color and the metal roof comes in; black, brick red, dark gray, silver and aluzink.

  • Do Midsummer solar roofs sell batteries for electricity storage?

Yes, with our batteries your solar electricity can be stored and used night time. Our batteries come in many different capacities between 200 Wh-30 kWh. Our batteries are made with Samsung battery cells. Unlike many other our batteries also work stand alone as backup power in case of a power outage. Do you know that there is a governmental grant of 60 % of battery cost in Sweden? Contact us and we will be pleased to help you. You find our contact details in the footer.

To store the electricity from the summer to the winter demands large energy storage (batteries) and is thus not economically feasible.

  • What happens on a cloudy day?

Solar cells produce electricity even when it is cloudy, but the production is lower than on a clear day. For a high annual production, it is not the daily variations that matters but rather the annual hours of sunshine. The number of annual hours of sunshine in a place usually varies with up to 10 %.

  • What is a good pitch for solar panels?

Generally, in Sweden around 40 degrees pitch is optimal, but if you have a pitch of 27 degrees which is common in Sweden, your electricity production only decreases by 3 %. The optimal pitch varies with the direction your roof faces and where in Sweden your live.

  • Which direction should solar panels face?

You will get the highest electricity production if your solar panels face south but also southeast and southwest gives high production. The more east or west the panels face the lesser the production. Facing north the solar panels will also produce electricity, but less.

  • Can the solar panels be run backwards to melt snow?

    No, they can’t.

  • What will happen if the solar grant budget run out?

If you don’t receive the grant the year you do the installation due to slow administration or lack of budget you will get the grant the following year. The total annual budget is 915 million SEK 2018-2020.

  • Is it allowed to go off-grid? If yes, how do I do?

Yes, it is allowed to be self-sufficient in electricity production and go off-grid.

  • Can the solar panels be mounted on a bitumen roof?

Yes, our solar panels can be mounted without the metal roof directly on bitumen roofs.

  • Where can I buy Midsummer solar roofs?

We sell it directly to private individuals and corporations. You find our contact details in the footer.
